Zebras V.S Chargers
Written by Pauline Rubio Friday, 22 October 2010 07:13
Tuesday October 19th the Lady Chargers had a volleyball game against the Grandview Lady Zebras at Keene’s home court. The JV and Varsity teams were on the verge of winning, but they couldn’t make it all the way. The JV team was up first. Now last time they played this team they went into three games and they were close to winning. They only lost it by two points, but this game they played until it was the end and they had it all. The first game did not go well the Lady Zebras won and the Lady Chargers were not awake. After a talk from Coach Perry and Coach Connelly the second game was a piece of cake. So on to the third game they went. Danirous Lopez had a good kill and Cailyn Mathison had awesome hits. Ann Kurn and Christina Enos had beautiful passes to the setter whether it was to Amanda Langmos or Ruthilla Clayton. The JV team lost, but not a terrible loss. It was Chargers 22 and Zebras 25. Varsity was pumped and they knew that they could win if they put their hearts into it. Last time Varsity played they lost, but not as bad as they thought they would. This game was to be different. The Lady Chargers were playing and they tried their best to win this game. Xenia Munoz, Sarah Gow, and Keishla Morales had good kills and blocks through out the game. The girls had good passes to Shanon Anitak and Lorina Kurn. The Varsity was doing their best even though they lost the first two games, but in the third game they knew they weren’t going to just give up. So they played and they won the third game, but the fourth game didn’t go as they planned. That fourth game they lost. The score was Keene 23 and Grandview 25. Both teams put their heart into their games and it shows a lot on the court. Now both teams have a rematch against Maypearl. Are they ready for this one?

Battle against Italy
Written by Pauline Rubio Thursday, 23 September 2010 07:15
Tuesday night Keene had an exciting volleyball game. The Keene Lady Chargers went into their last period, which is athletics, and started practicing for Italy. They practice everything that involves volleyball, passing, blocking, hitting, and setting. They were getting better, but the coaches were still a worried.
JV team was ready and even though they didn’t have a great practice and the coach was worrying, they were ready to play their hearts out. It appeared they knew they had it and played hard. They were ahead by 10, but then Italy was coming back strong. The crowd knew their energy level was going way, way down. So the Blue Crew and Varsity team got up and they were getting the JV team pumped. They were cheering and yelling, “You got this ladies!” In the end the JV won 25-20
Varsity was ready too. The freshman players were getting better and better every practice. The JV girls were cheering with the Blue Crew. The Varsity loved it. They knew they could do it, if JV could. They were blocking, passing, and hitting constantly, but was it enough? They were tied, Keene won 2 games and so did Italy. The last game was to 15. JV screamed at the top of their lungs saying, “Come on! You got this!” Sadly the varsity lost 11-15.
Are the Lady Chargers ready for their biggest competitor on Friday? Their next game is against Grandview at their place. Grandview was in regionals last year. This year, varsity’s goal is to go to regionals. If you don’t have anything better to do on Friday night come to Grandview and support our Lady Chargers.

Victory V.S. North Dallas
Written by Pauline Rubio Friday, 17 September 2010 07:37
The Keene Lady Chargers had a long trip to their opponents the Dallas Bulldogs. Some people slept for their victory, but they woke up soon. The rest of the girls who were awake shortly woke them up. They were getting pumped up and were ready.
First the JV girls were up. They were ready. JV passed and SPIKED every second they got. They used teamwork and were talking to each other like never before. They showed a different side when at the end they did it! THEY WON!! Keene 25 and Dallas 22. JV let’s see that energy for district. Emily Aaron who was our captain, but moved to varsity said, “We did good. We should play like that more.”
Varsity kept the energy going. They had gone into four games again. They had two new freshman players Cailyn Mathison and Emily Aaron. Varsity did great. They lost one game and took the rest of them one game at a time. It appeared they were ready for anything. Varsity had the support from the JV when they did; “WE JV LOVE OUR VARSITY!!” and they were pumped. At the end of the battle they were VICTOURIOUS!! The Lady’s WON!! Keene 25 and Dallas 23. It was a close game. Emily said, “They [Varsity] did good and Coach [Connelly] said that we need to talk more and open up.”
It seems both teams are ready for District. Watch out District Players, here comes the Keene Lady Chargers!!
